This year, Gold Star Coffee became the only North American roaster to win a lot at Cup of Excellence Mexico 2026, securing Lot #6: El Mirador — an exceptionally rare, honey-processed Geisha coffee grown in the high-altitude mountains of Santa María Yucuhití, Oaxaca, Mexico by producer Heladio García España. 

Scoring 88.28 from the International Jury and ranked #6 in the Traditional Honey category, this coffee proved itself nearly flawless across multiple rounds of blind tasting. 

The honey-process leaves a layer of the natural coffee fruit intact on the bean as it dries, giving the cup a noticeable sweetness and smooth body, while the legendary Geisha variety contributes its signature floral aroma and light, tea-like character.
